Kanyakumari, at the very tip of the Indian peninsula, is where the Bay of Bengal, the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean meet. It's a place of pilgrimage and pure spectacle — and one of the few spots in India where you can see both sunrise and sunset over water.

Timing your visit
October to March has the most reliable weather. On full-moon evenings you can sometimes watch the sun set and the moon rise over the sea simultaneously — a sight worth planning around.
The ferry to Vivekananda Rock gets long queues by mid-morning. Go early, then keep your car for Suchindram and the windmill-dotted drive back.
